Have you ever heard of price-gouging? That is where somebody takes something that has a low supply but a high demand, and they jack up the prices to an outrageous amount. You will see this often in the medical field where someone will take a $5 medicine and charge thousands of dollars for it. However, right now, there are HVAC companies that are doing that. We have a virus that is causing a global pandemic, and there are a lot of companies that are suffering. However, HVAC companies are definitely not suffering. Since a lot of people are at home right now, they are noticing that their HVAC units need a lot more work, and they are calling the HVAC companies to have the work done. Also, people began realizing that the air filters in their HVAC units could help prevent this virus, and so people are asking the HVAC technicians to change their air filters in their HVAC units. Finally, there are some people that are calling the HVAC companies to have them install an air purification system. However, while the HVAC companies are enjoying all of the work and profit, it wasn’t enough. I have noticed that the HVAC company has been charging 5x the amount of money for the repairs, and they are only doing it because they don’t know how to do HVAC repairs. They are relying on the fear of this virus to gain them money, and it is working. What the HVAC company is doing should be illegal. I just can’t believe that nobody has said anything to them about it.
